About Dumpling Time Design District
Dumpling Time (from the acclaimed restaurant team behind San Francisco's Michelin-starred Omakase and Niku Steakhouse) is a modern Cal-Asian eatery where visitors can watch dumplings being made fresh right before their eyes. The menu focuses on freshly made dumplings in the Asian tradition based on recipes from owner Kash Feng's mother and their Xi'an origins with an approachable California twist. Made with locally sourced ingredients, unique fillings and sharable plates.

In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in San Francisco; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in California are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.

San Francisco is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around San Francisco is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Lots of great food options! I recommend the seafood gyozas, they have large pieces of shrimp in them and are absolutely delicious. The hot and sour soup that comes with the lamb dumplings was 10/10 and the pho dumplings were also great!

We enjoy dining at Dumpling Time. Their food tastes good, my favorites are soup dumplings and string green beans. You ought to try the super sized soup dumpling once, you drink the soup inside with a straw which is fun.

I don't live in the city but I've had to come up here every day because my wife had been transferred to a hospital in San Francisco. She went through a spell of being terribly nauseaus and only certain foods could be kept down. She's a fan of dumplings so we found this place on door dash and tried it. The Wagyu XLB is one of the best things I've ever eaten. And no that's not hyperbole.Everything we had from this place was great but those specific dumplings were amazing. My wife also was a big fan. She had the vegetable dumplings and not only was able to keep it down with her nausea, but would also get it again and she is a picky eater. The worst thing we ate there is something I would descriebe as "good but I don't need it again." I won't name the item because it really wasn't bad at all, it was just outshined by everything else. I have since recommened thist o a few different doctors and nurses at her hospital and two have reported back to us that they loved it as well. In fact one nurse's wife now wants Dumpling Time at least once a week. When I die, if the Wagyu XLB is the last thing I eat, it would not be a wasted life.

Pretty good soup dumplings, friendly service and nice outdoor location with a covered patio. Got the wood ear mushroom salad and the 10pc combo. Salad was great. On the dumplings: tom yum, pork, pho are all excellent. The wagyu was also fine. Great if you enjoy heavy mushroom flavour, but pretty regular otherwise. The kimchi jigae was the only one that fell flat. Overall, it was a fun, colourful meal!

Service was fantastic, did I say service was good. In todays world, in the service world, service is what counts most. Then comes the so many different chioces of dumplings, lamb, beef, pork and fish, it was a party eating there. Loved it and will be back and they are reasonable on the pricing.
